FAMILY TRIP
TENNESSEE LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN
My family had a wonderful time to take a trip to Kimball, Jasper, South Pittsburg and Chattanooga Tennessee. Wonderful trip! The mountains there are part of the Cumberland mountain plateau. Such beautiful mountains. I have always been drawn to the mountains of that area. Covenant College can be seen from far far away as we approached Chattanooga.
The trip to Kimball was to see my Aunt Violet and Uncle Kenneth. We did take a trip to Jasper, just a few miles away to have a large dinner with Lisa, Doug, Ali, My mother, Aunt Violet, Uncle Kenneth, my cousin Ronnie and my daughter Marlana.
May we never forget what connects us to this place and why it holds such a warm place in our hearts. It not only reminds us of where my mother came from but of our father, Roger Dale Brock, who adopted the place as his home for a time and always brought us back there every year.
Jasper Tennessee Mountains
Mountain of Jasper Tennessee
Aunt Violets little house has always been a home full of memories of family reunions. It has always been a place of family chatter and laughter. I don't think I have one bad memory associated with that house.
These photos are of my Aunt Violets and Uncle Kenneths place. They live on the edge of a mountain side in Kimball called Sweeten's Cove. The road can be treacherous for driving if you are not used to curvy roads. You have to be cautious of other drivers taking up the entire road. The grass is a beautiful green and the mountains full of trees.
CREEK BEHIND VIOLETS HOUSE
This creek is part of a tributary of creeks which empty into the Tennessee River. Mystical green creek which captures the beauty of the mountain trees shadowing it. Water Moccasin snakes and Copperheads must be paid attention to. They can be deadly as they are poison snakes. I was glad I did not see any of these.
MONTEAGLE MOUNTAINS REGION
We always knew when we were getting close to Kimball, South Pittsburg and jasper when we reached Monteagle mountains. Monteagle is the city atop these mountains. We always knew, traveling from Indiana, that we were almost there when reaching the mountains of this region.
A POSSUM RECIPE ATTACHED TO AN ANTIQUE SHOP IN KIMBALL
This was a funny sign we noticed on the side of the building an antique shop in Kimball. We were preparing to leave to return to our home in Indiana (and my sister's home in Iowa) when stopping first to pick up a gift for our Aunt Violet. They had wanted to give her an iron skillet clock. South Pittsburg, which was just down the road, was known for their iron skillets which was made there.

The memories of this trip were priceless. Sometimes we did manage to wear thin on each other's nerves as we traveled everywhere together to the cities of this region. But when our heads hit the pillow we forgot about the testings and remembered how much we all loved each other and enjoyed such a wonderful time together re connecting with the land of our childhood of Tennessee.
